1959 Austin Healey 3000 Gearbox and Overdrive Unit. Completely disassembled and cleaned. Syncros and bearings worn. Mismatched inside and outside 1-2 shift hub from a previous rebuild. Detent ball frozen inside 3-4 hub. Lots of sludge and dirt inside, but a good unit to rebuild. All overdrive components in good condition.

Austin Healey 3000. 3rd-4th gear shifting hub being assembled with new detent springs. The inside slider on the left has the detent springs and balls retained with Churchill factory assembly ring. Outer hub at right will slide right on and displace the assembly ring.

Austin Healey 3000. Adaptor plate and overdrive unit fitted at rear with side cover installed. Bellhousing installed with new front seal. Bench tested @ 470 PSI operating pressure. Ready to paint and fit up/adjust solenoid.

Hi George..It is difficult to say without a full teardown, but it will take 12-14 bench hours labor ($1300-1400) plus parts, usually $400-600 for bearings, seals, syncros, gaskets assuming no major internal damage. Cheers..

Healey rebuilds are typically around $900 for the gearbox and $500 for the OD unit. Parts extra, but usually $250-300 on units with no major internal damage of expensive parts.
